"Salad" Cupcakes...

Yesterday was Salad Day at work and I got the bright idea that "Salad" Cupcakes would be fun to make.

They were so fun and super easy!!

I baked regular box yellow cupcakes. a few drops of green food coloring in the frosting.
Coconut in a zip bag add a few drop of the green and shake.
To make the "carrots" I used red & yellow in a bag with coconut. (if you use too much color and your coconut is wet just put it in a paper towel and squeeze.
The "tomatoes" or "beets" are just twizzler bites sliced.
Lastly, I melted a little of the white frosting and drizzled it over... for the "ranch" of course you could tweak this if you don't like ranch :-)

Warrior Dash 2012

I am a WARRIOR!!!

I will admit that I wasn't sure I could do it (and live to talk about it).
This is the hardest thing I have physically done as an adult, some people probably would say that many of the obstacles are tough on you mentally as well, that I didn't have a problem with. For me personally, it was all physical. I'm proud that I did it, and extremely mad at myself that I did it in the shape(or lack of shape) that I am in, which in one word is AWFUL!

I'm not giving up any stats on where I am... but I will leave this space here to fill them in at a later date. (I'm not ready to post that for world, yet)

When I signed up for the Warrior Dash in late 2011 with a group (and amazing group) of friends. The goal for quite a few of us was to get in shape and lose weight before it got here... fast forward... I think maybe half of us were really in the shape we wanted to be in on dash day. That didn't stop us, all of us completed the course, for the most part we stuck together and finished in two groups a few minutes apart. It was pretty awesome!

I did by pass one obstacle and that is the Great Warrior Wall, If you know anything about warrior dash you have probably seen a photo of the wall. It's a rope climb up a 20(+?) foot wall, I tried it twice and the second time I was probably 3/4 of the way up it. It was at this point that I realized the last 1/4 was a little more risk than I was willing to go for at that moment. I knew the likely hood of getting seriously hurt was pretty high and that is when I decided to walk around. The competive side of me was yelling "Get your ass up there and go over that wall" while the logical adult was saying "Thank god you are not listening to the crazy side of your brain". I have no regrets on that one at all, one of my friends said that she almost fell. If you fall from that wall it's going to hurt (or worse). Our course had 13 obstacles and I did 12 of them. I felt like a warrior, a beat up warrior but a warrior none the less.

Let me talk about my amazing friends!!! There were 11 of us and 10 of us stayed together. The 11th was a daughter of a friend and at 14 she wanted to run it so off she went. I knew early on that I was holding the others back, probably not as bad as I thought I was but still I was the slowest for sure. Once I got it through to them that I was fat and not handicapped, we got along quite well. 

Less than a week after doing this and still while my body was aching all over we signed up to do it all over again next year. I seriously need to have my head examined. I have a little less than a year to get in Warrior shape.  The time to take my life back into my own hands is now!

Well since that is the address of this blog... I think it's time to really get to being Amy.

Blogging from the iPhone...

I used to do this via email. Which worked fine, not great but fine. I saw that blogger updated the app and thought ok... cool... finally. It seems to work ok, again not great but ok. My last post the photo is "off" and that is just annoying. I'm a little bummed but hopeful they will finally get the app to work great.

A dogs life....

R.I.P. Steve Jobs

Since this blog started because I got my first iPhone and was having fun snaping photos with it. I felt it was appropriate that I pay my respects on it.

Whether you love or hate apple (since it seems to be one or the other these days) you have to respect the brilliant man who had the vision and the guts to make apple what it is today. Another life cut short by cancer... That is the truly sad part. The world lost a visionary who only got to show us part of the vision. While most talk about what a great business man he was, he was also a Husband and Father... My prayers go out to the Jobs family during this sad time.

I will honor his memory as I pre-order my new iPhone tomorrow! - Thanks Steve!
